A cash-price range, with limits
A cash price leaves insurance out: you pay the amount yourself.
On September 26, 2026, drug companies advertised prices without insurance for selected diabetes and weight-loss medicines.
Most were about $149 to $499 per month, varying by medicine and the amount prescribed.
Some offers charged more if a refill missed the company’s deadline for a discount.
Ask: “What is my price, and by what date must I refill to keep it?”
The range combines advertised medicine prices; it is not a quote for your medicine or your full care bill.
Your plan’s annual cap on what you spend for covered care does not include these payments.
Ask for your own full care total separately. Check how much medicine each quoted “month” includes.
Get these parts of the bill in writing
- Care fees
- Ask about the first visit, later visits and any membership charge. Ask what happens to the care fee when a visit finishes with no prescription for medicine.
- The medicine
- Ask for the price after the opening offer. Confirm the amount supplied and the refill terms.
- Tests and delivery
- Ask whether tests, supplies and shipping are included. Ask who charges for each extra.
- Pausing or leaving
- Ask how to stop recurring payments, whether a minimum commitment applies and how refunds work.
In the online weight-care pages checked September 26, 2026, monthly care memberships commonly billed medicine separately.
Ask the insurance question by name
Tell your plan which exact medicine is proposed and which condition it would treat. Ask whether it is covered, what approval is needed first and what you would pay.
Medicare’s drug benefit may cover a weight-related medicine prescribed for a different accepted purpose, such as diabetes treatment (checked September 26, 2026).
A plan may still refuse to pay for the medicine.

Check the price again before a refill or a new commitment. An offer’s end date is a reason to ask again.
